Abstract
Everyone has archetypal patterns which determine a path someone should take. This study is conducted to reveal the archetypes existing in the characters of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, especially Peter and Prince Caspian. The writer uses six major archetypes namely Innocent, Orphan, Wanderer, Martyr, Warrior, and Magician. Although there are many other archetypes, these six archetypes are the main archetypes that influence human life. The writer uses the theory of Carol Pearson about the influence of archetypal patterns in the development of human character. The writer analyzes the journey of Peter and Prince Caspian characters who at the end of the movie are able to overcome all obstacles to achieve the desired goal and gain deep satisfaction upon achieving it. The results reveal that all archetypal patterns are shown by Peter and Prince Caspian characters in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian movie. Peter can fulfill the entire archetypal patterns from Innocent to Magician and Prince Caspian manages to complete four patterns which are Innocent to Orphan, Wanderer, Warrior, and Magician. From all archetypal patterns, there is one pattern that does not apply to Prince Caspian, it is the Martyr archetype. Prince Caspian does not go through the Martyr archetype because from the Wanderer he directly goes to the Warrior archetype. The result of this study proves that the archetypal pattern really influences the development of their character.
