Abstract

Old age is a period of development that gives rise to many changes in life. One of the changes is moving residence to an elderly home. Awareness is needed in dealing with changes, especially for the elderly. So that the elderly can reflect on themselves and their experiences in dealing with these changes. The intervention aims to increase awareness of the elderly at Wisma Lansia X through reminiscence group therapy. The intervention was carried out in a group of 5 participants (2 males and 3 females) with a duration of stay of less than one year. The post-intervention assessment used a 10-item short AARC (Awareness of Age-Related Change) observations and interviews. Paired-sample t-test using JASP software to test for differences before and after the implementation of the intervention. The results showed that awareness after the intervention (M=37.4; SD=1.673) was significantly higher than before the intervention (M=21.2; SD=1.304), t(4)=-13.504, p=<0.001. This intervention shows that reminiscence group therapy can increase the awareness of the elderly in the elderly home. This awareness can increase the ability of the elderly to deal with changes in residence.
