Abstract

There have been many leadership styles formulated by scholars and researchers in the world today. However, these studies tend to not involve the individual component as a whole, including psychologically and some see the individual as an instrument and focus on leadership instruments. The concept of spiritual leadership introduced by Fry (2003) is still premature and requires a lot of studies to strengthen it. And there is a suggestion from Grant and McGhee (2010) that virtue should also be included in this leadership concept, but there is no specific empirical study on this. However, this leadership concept can also be combined with the triple bottom line as stated by Fry and Slocum (2008).The purpose of this research is to construct a model of spiritual leadership relationship with environmental care behavior and company performance. In this study, the model developed by Fry (2003) will be combined with the principle of virtue and studied its effects on ethical decision making and environmental awareness behavior of employees and on company performance. This research was conducted at the Samator Group, although there were no significant problems that arose within the Samator Group, the resulting product is a product that is needed by almost every life, one of which is oxygen which is very vital during this Covid-19 pandemic. Added to this is the fact that currently this group of companies has never submitted a PROPER assessment from the Ministry of the Environment, even though it is very possible to obtain an adequate PROPER rating. The variables used in this study are altruistic love, hope / faith, vision, moral values, virtue, subordinates' perceptions of ethical decision making and environmentally conscious behavior and company performance. This study uses quota sampling by limiting the number of respondents to 100 respondents. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling techniques. The results of this study indicate that the combination of the concept of spiritual leadership introduced by Fry (2003) with the concept of virtue suggested by Grant and McGhee (2010) and linking it to ethical decision making and environmentally conscious behavior and company performance is able to produce a feasible and capable model and fulfill several goodness of fit criteria. This shows that virtue which is a universal value for various religious teachings in the world is actually able to bridge various behaviors in organizations. The results of this study can motivate organizational leaders to further improve the environmentally conscious behavior of existing employees by increasing the employee's sense of belonging to the company and employees' love for nature conservation. The results of this study are also expected to encourage Samator Group to apply for the PROPER assessment by the Ministry of the Environment.
