Abstract

There are so many researches on Switched Reluctance Motors (SRM) as electric drives in industry applications were done. SRM has simple rotor construction and high performance when applied in electric vehicle. Most energy loss in electric vehicle are caused by braking. The solution to reduce wasted energy when braking in electric vehicle is with regenerative braking system. Regenerative braking system will convert the wasted energy in traditional braking to recharge the battery and make longer mileage. Braking method using PWM with different duty cycles are proposed in this paper. This method can increase the current to charge the battery at low speed while braking. To prove this analysis, experimental work was done. It shows that different duty cycles provide different battery charging.
