Abstract

Competition in a business has become a new thing, this can be seen from the emergence of new competitors and competitors that are already established in a business field. This study took one of the businesses engaged in the retail of outdoor equipment in Semarang, namely the Cartenz Store store as an object of research. Competition that is increasingly tight makes Cartenz store have to think creatively to maintain and face market competition by using the right strategy. The formulation of the problem of this research is How is the alternative strategy on the Cartenz store by using the SWOT and QSPM methods. The purpose of this study is to find out alternative strategies that will be used by the Cartenz store in Semarang in the face of competition in the field of outdoor or adventure products based on the SWOT and QPSM methods. Insights into the internal and external environment of the company are the main keys to formulating SWOT and QSPM. Data collection methods used in this study were interviews and filling out questionnaires to internal companies and external parties, namely consumers. The analysis tool that will be used to process data from the field is the IFE, EFE, IE, SWOT and QSPM Matrix. From the results of the study found a number of problems faced by the company and the right strategy to deal with them. The IE Cartenz store matrix is currently on cell V where the strategy that can be implemented is to maintain and maintain (hold and maintain). The strategy most often used in the type of division guarding and maintaining is market penetration and product development. Companies must continue to maintain the strategies that have been successfully implemented such as maintaining loyalty from loyal customers and product development due to the need for product variations to provide additional choices for customers. The results of the SWOT analysis produced six alternative strategies for the SWOT analysis, followed by the best chosen strategy for the Cartenz store store using the QSPM matrix priority strategy. The results of the QSPM matrix are to add to the inventory of outdoor products with various variations (models and types) with a total attraction of 6.34.
