Abstract
Humans as social beings will never be separated from communication to support their lives. But in communicating, there is a possibility of communication disruptions that hinder the delivery of messages. One of the communication disorders that can occur is a psychological disorder, in which a mental disorder is one of its forms. Depression is one of the many forms of mental disorders. To treat it, various healing methods are needed, one of which is therapeutic communication. Therapeutic communication is the application of interpersonal communication. In therapeutic communication, nurses play a role in communicating with patients so that patients want to follow a series of treatments and therapies towards recovery. Patients who are medically diagnosed with depression can experience conditions such as delusions, hallucinations, social isolation and so on. These conditions are nursing diagnoses that will determine nursing care for patients. This study focuses on therapeutic communication conducted by nurses to depressed patients with impaired social isolation. Disruption of social isolation is chosen because patients with nursing diagnoses tend to experience problems in communicating and interacting with the surrounding environment. This research was conducted at RSJD Dr. Amino Gondohutomo Semarang in Class III Inpatient Room. This research method uses a qualitative approach with descriptive study analysis. The author conducted observations and interviews with 8 nurses who were responsible for depressed patients with impaired social isolation. From this study, it was obtained the results that nurses of RSJD Dr. Amino Gondohutomo Semarang conducts therapeutic communication activities, in which there are four stages of therapeutic communication supported by techniques and attitudes of therapeutic communication. In addition, this research shows that communication is not the only factor that determines patient recovery, but communication plays an important role in straightening the patient's mind.
