Abstract

Global warming is a term heard frequently and is currently associated with a variety of events and natural disasters in the country (Indonesia). Like from flooding, extreme weather, and a variety of diseases. The phenomenon of global warming is choracterized by change's in Earth's climate and the increase in number of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Efforts to address this issue in Indonesia have not been done seriously. One of the reasons was the lack of i understanding and knowledge about climate and its relationship with the environment. The porpuse of this sudy was to determine the extent of climate literacy in affecting societal attitude -in this case how the government employees of Pontianak City were dealing with global warming. The research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 30 government institutions, 6 districts, and 4 vii/ages offices in Pontianak City. Correlation analysis between climate literacy and societal attitudes in dealing the phenomenon of global warming showed a significant but weak relationship. While, based on frequency distribution some of the respondent agrreed on provisions related to climate literacy, however they failed to act in terms of actual practices. This was caused by the presence of a high understanding of climate literacy that was not accompanied by its application in daily life practices.
