LignocelkOOs~ bemass can be utiIi2ed to produce ethano~ a prom5iJg akemative energy SOlD'Ce mr the limited crude oil. However, the cost of ethaml as an energy SOlD'Ce is relatively t¥t compared to mssil fuefi. A potential source i>r hw-cost ethanol producmn is to utilize IignocelkOOse materiafi such as crop resiiues, grasses, sawdust, wood c~s, a1Xl solil aninal waste. In thf; research the lignoceiJhse JIIlteriafi was obtailed iom two parts of Plant (Oryza zativa), there are rke bran and rke straw. Each part was obtailed iom Plant wIh diflCrent processilg. There are maitly two processes involved it the conversen : hydrolysis of celkOOse it the lignocelUhse bemass to produce reduc~ s~ a1Xl tennemamn of the s~ to ethanol An organism used in thf; study are five stram of Zymomonas mobilis (~4, 405, 548, 550, a1Xl 551). There are two mailly purpose of thf; study : (1) to fi1d whkh lignocelJhse bemass that rmstly eftective as substrate Dr ethanol producti>n and (2) whkh strait of Zymomonas mobilia that growth steady it rmst m:dia. The resul shows that there are two candiiates of media and strait that can be used i>r further research. There are non-concemated rke bran and non-conceJi:rated ri;:e straw, whether Dr strait there are l1S1R 551 and 1181R 405.
